Zoom Out: Your Wall Ball Technique Isn’t the Problem
Aug 30, 2025
We’re drifting further and further from the stuff that actually drives performance. Not because it’s hidden, but because it’s boring. It doesn’t go viral. It doesn’t come with epic background music.
In general, we can divide performance enhancement tools into three categories.
Marginal gains – Carbon-plated shoes or catching the ball in a squat during wall ball.
Medium levers – Adding one structured interval session to your week.
Foundational drivers – Your total training volume, your daily recovery ability, and your life setup.
Here’s the problem: today's digital sports culture is designed to seduce you with categories one and two.
Why?
Because the big picture stuff isn’t clickable, it’s hard. It’s the stuff no one wants to film, like skipping a session because you didn’t sleep, eating well for the 17th day in a row, or saying no to your third race of the month because you're building for the long term.
Performance doesn’t come from a single technique. It comes from the daily system, where performance is the byproduct.
It’s your recovery.
Your environment.
Your ability to stay in the game long enough to adapt.
Your life.
We’re launching the ZONE EIGHT Substack to help you build a system that makes high performance inevitable.
Welcome to ZONE EIGHT.
